Weekend

I SOOO did not get done this weekend what I wanted.

We did have a blast Friday at The Farm, though, so that's good.

But, a weekend of too much drinking, sleep deprivation, and a higher dosage of a med you used to be used to - and - well, just *blah*.

Broke out in hives/the itchies last night after taking a med I generally can handle, and this is what happened:

BUT, to end this on a good note - SOMEbody (Luhmpie) likes to help me play my piano every now and then. We were TRYING to get a picture of him when he sits next to me and puts his upper half of his body under my arm (between both of my arms) and watches me - but this was the closest we could get:

Monday - from....heck

Not really from hell - not from heaven - so....from heck.

I think this was the first time in my life that I have voluntarily stayed late at work and not minded or wanted to rush out. It's weird. I just simply didn't mind. Feels good to be useful.

Got home, and what was waiting in the mail!??!?!?!?!
My COTM squares from Aurora Mae on the HHCEC list!!! WOO HOO!!!!
I was QUITE excited! My first received swap! YAY! Makes me all the more excited to get mine done and sent out!!!
Didn't get any crocheting done at work today - worked through half of my break - just so darned busy today.
So, tonight, if I can stay awake, it's "Sacred Hour" from 9 - 10. *chuckles* That translates into Big Love on HBO. :-P
So, now, I'm off to snuggle with the kitties who are literally chewing on my elbow, relax, and veg for awhile.

Weekend - so far

So far, it's been a good weekend.

Friday night I ended up falling asleep earlier than planned - but you'll have this.
Today, Saturday - we enjoyed walking up and down Penn Ave. in West Reading. Reminds me of a mini New Hope. I got my new jewelery from CCM&M. That's a picture of it over there on the right, only mine has amethyst. I also got a matching pair of earrings and a ring.

Met a new lady who was tending shop - and she was a sweetie.

Also found the Yarn Gallery - and it was HEAVEN. I just with that there was more crochet stuff in there. They had an AWESOME kit for an afghan, and I fell in love with the colors - but alas - it was for knitting. I did get the rest of the covers for my hooks. Just these foam cover things that help the comfort of holding the crochet hooks.

After that it was off to WalMart for groceries and a pair of boots for Chris. We didn't do too bad - I took breaks - no fights or stresses - which is always good.

Then, after we were home for a bit, Chris made my blocking board!!!!!

Directions/Supplies:

12" X 18" styrofoam board
2 pieces 12" X 18" stiff 'felt'
Duct Tape
Marker
Ruler
Pins

Cover edges of teh board with the duct tape. Mark a grid on both pieces of felt. I used a 1" grid. Pin a piece of felt on the top and bottom of the board.
Voila! Instant blocking board! I like this type of board because the felt can wick the moisture away, the styrofoam is light, it's double sided, so I can use both sides and stand it up - and it's CHEAP!!!! Under $10 - less if you already have some of the supplies!

Gaisgeil of course had to get in on the action.

I made a yummy dinner tonight later on - and Chris LOVED it - which is a GREAT thing. I made my cheeseburger meatloaf - YES YES YES - I TOUCHED RAW MEAT!!!!

Though, I will say - don't EVER eat meatloaf, burgers or anything with hamburger if Chris makes it. 'Nuff said. *shudders*

After my update and I post to some groups it's into the shower with me - and then a relaxing night and *hiccup* - yummers.

Finished!

It's finally done, yay!
I finished the Lavendar/Vareigated Giant Granny Square Lapghan at work today. Was going pretty fast to finish that last row of the border - but I did it, and only went five minutes over break time, which nobody cared about because they're all watching me!!

Normally I take better and more artsy photos - but it's too damned hot outside, the neighbors dog has been barking all evening, and we have those killer cicada wasps burrowing all over the yard. So I'm not being artsy today.
Work is getting a bit more stressful, but that's a good thing. I just hope they remember there's only so much of Jess to go around.
On a good note - tomorrow is "Bunny" day - which means some more UV Vodka and a relaxing weekend.
I think the meetup that I was planning for our witchy crafty group isn't going to happen - so we'll have the whole weekend to ourselves with nothing planned. This could be good or bad.
Other than that, I'm hot and starting to get hungry, so am going to think about what to do for dinner...

Obligatory Weekend Post

Where did this weekend go? Goodness it went fast.

Saturday, dad and Chris went to the gunclub to do manly things and shoot guns. They had a great time.

Mom and I went out shopping, again. We got the pattern for "the dress". Now, we're just deciding if we're doing the practical joke with the dress, or going for 'normal'.

Got some skirts - and - got my hair done! We went to the salon at JC Penny's - and the chic there was SUPER GREAT. I was sooo nervous to get my hair cut/styled with the hair loss and all - but this girl was great. I'm so happy with it. Nothing too drastic, but a nice little bit of a change.

Yesterday evening we had a friend over and that was nice as always.

Today - I spent most of the early afternoon getting my yarn organized:

Before:

Midway:

After:

And as always, one of the cats had to get in on the photographic goodness:

Now, for the rest of the day it's relaxing, then might go with Chris up to walk his dogs - and maybe a WalMart trip to get the stuff that wasn't in my bag on Friday - and a few odds and ends.

Volunteering and a sweet card

The meeting this evening for the AseraCaring Threads was fantastic. Seems there's been word flying around the hospice and various ederly homes - and quite a few residents are excited about the crochet items. A few have even requested "the sweet girl doing this" to come in and crochet with them and/or teach. How exciting!

On a cute and silly note, I got a card in the mail today - for no reason, other than it being oddly apropriate:

front:

inside:

Appropriate, no? *chuckles*

Going to try my best to not be on this blasted machine all night....gotta get some kitty snuggle time in....

Frogging.......

The crocheter's curseword: Frogging.

I had to frog what I THOUGHT was only going to be two, but was actually FOUR rounds of the Giant Granny Square Afghan. Stupid me forgot to post-it note or otherwise remind myself that Monday at work I finished the lavendar rows and should move to the variegated. Nope, next two days I'm working in lavendar. Finisehd a row, counted, and uttered a few choice cursewords and proceeded to frog.

Today - I have been smarter. I packed my yarn up this morning first thing. Yarn first, then shower.

This evening I'm meeting with P.H. for the AseraCaring Threads. Getting all the paperwork done, and all that good stuff. After this evening, I'll be an official 'organizer' for the AseraCaring Threads. Woot. Go me!

I'm just glad to be able to combine my interests/feelings/emotions - hospice and crocheting. I know I don't have a strong enough spirit to do the more indepth hospice volunteer work - so this is my little way of sharing some peace, comfort, and just a bit of magic.

Also talked to Chris this afternoon - poor thing is having a hell of a day - hit a bush outside the building with the trailer. *sighs*

At work now on break - just about to start hooking - but figured I'd update incase I don't get a chance to this evening...
